Despite being one of Nike's oldest collaborators, sacai only became popular after the release of its LDWaffle in 2019. And since then, designer Chitose Abe has approached her collaborations the same way, rebuilding classics with elements of other silhouettes. The upcoming Cortez 4.0 , however, deviates slightly from the norm, as the design is a bit more grounded compared to Abe's previous work.

In homage to the original colorway of the base silhouette, Sacai has dressed its Cortez 4.0 in “ White ”, “ Varsity Red ” and “ Varsity Royal ”. The exterior of the shoe even reflects the OG in its construction, opting for leather on the profile and suede on the toe box and eyelets. The heel, sole and upper line, on the other hand, feature the signature of the Japanese label: the counter is made up of several layers, the bottom is brutalist like previous collaborations, and the ankle is more cushioned thanks to the addition of a second predominantly blue necklace.
