For its next act, the Air Max Plus appears in a pseudo-artisanal aesthetic that boasts an unprecedented layering of leathers on the 1999 Air Max model.

While the silhouette retains its iconic structure, Nike has concocted a truly unexpected take on the model by amalgamating a number of current trends and styles. It looks a bit like an outdoor gorp-core thanks to the reinforced lace and durable nylon mesh mudguard, but the leather foxing on top of the ' lava ' provides the aforementioned appeal construction from one piece. Even the popular pre-aged vintage technique appears on the midsole, where streaks of yellow appear beneath the beige paint that appears to have been scuffed. Additionally, Nike introduces a new Air Max logo on the tongue and insole, which mimics the human pulse.
