One of the most sought-after releases of the early ' 80s , the " Shima Shima " collection debuted just two decades ago. And after refreshing our memory with the return of said Air Trainer 1 last October, Nike is ready to further celebrate these Japanese-inspired offerings, introducing a new version of the Air Max 1 just in time for the pack's 20th anniversary .

Although distinct from its predecessor in terms of colors, the Nike Air Max 1 2023 " Shima Shima " still incorporates many of the pack's signature details. The color itself, while primarily dressed in neutrals, echoes some of the same earth tones, with deep browns applied to the model's mudguard, Swoosh, laces, and eyelets. Direct references to the original are even present in the Japanese text and striped pattern applied to the lining and tongue label, respectively.
