Perhaps to capitalize on the popularity of the capsule, the Boston-based brand recently revealed new styles from the collection, which include a two-tone purple option. Led by designer Yue Wu, the original three-pair release reimagined performance-focused New Balance sneakers as “wearable relics” once trapped in time. Premium pigskin suede is therefore 'weathered' onto a breathable mesh base, the latter component sporting a lighter shade of royal purple. The laces, branding at the top of the tongue, heel underlays, and most of the midsole depart from their surroundings in favor of a slightly yellowed hue that injects a vintage aesthetic into the 2002R. NERGY cushioning, meanwhile, offers modern comfort.
