The upper combines a grey mesh base with various tonal overlays that enhance the gradient effect. Synthetic and synthetic suede sections add texture to the design, while the dark mudguard accentuates the low and compact structure of the silhouette. The Neon green Swoosh acts as one of the main points of contrast for this iteration, accompanied by matching accents on the tongue and heel. This construction adopts the visual spirit of the Air Max 95 without attempting to directly replicate its wavy panels.

The Nike Air Max 90 Neon naturally retains the key technical element that has defined the model since 1990: its visible Max Air cushioning in the heel. On this version, the Air unit also adopts a fluorescent green hue that reinforces the connection to the Neon theme. The black midsole creates a sharp contrast with the lighter parts of the upper and gives the sneaker a more aggressive look, while the rubber outsole maintains the sturdy construction expected of an Air Max 90.

This release is part of a cross-homage between several historic Nike models. The 1995 Air Max 95 Neon became a major reference point thanks to its grey gradient and fluorescent green accents, and this Air Max 90 captures those exact codes on a silhouette that is five years older. The contrast between the geometric lines of the AM90 and the color palette inherited from the AM95 results in a sneaker that remains familiar while sporting an identity distinct from the model’s classic colorways.
