Earlier last month, Nike announced its partnership with MLB, confirming that it would be the official uniform supplier for 2020 . Embroidered with their standard checks, team jerseys from the Astros to the San Francisco Giants are all on display, which helped establish a large list of signature colors to use in the months that followed. And now that their efforts have finally paid off, we can get a glimpse of one of many upcoming commemorative shoes - the first in line being the Air Max 97 .

Ambiguous to say the least, although firmly designed as homage, as evidenced by its baseball-themed insole graphic, the pair sports bold colors that appear to have no overt connection to any of the participating teams. Seemingly universal, red fills the lowest layer of the panel, stitching along its canvas construction with an inordinately pronounced thread; orange and yellow sit immediately above and favor more structural smooth leather piping, while the rest of the upper is kept low by way of a full black ensemble. The woven thread on the latter, however, lends a degree of shine for contrast, while the mesh textures on the tongue stand out alongside the branded pull tab at its apex and striped pull tabs nearby. The swooshes, both on the tongue and along the profile, are silver, while the soles play on the same tones through the outsole molds – constructions that integrate into the tiger stripe emblem jewel.
