First appearing in the AURALEE Spring/Summer 2022 lookbook, their collaboration with New Balance 's 2002R silhouette marks the next step in the catalog for the Boston-based footwear brand and Japan-founded fashion house, which have already worked on the NB 550 and RC30 silhouettes. Combining the minimalist aesthetic the fashion house is famous for alongside NB's functional designs, two colorways are set to release for the AURALEE x New Balance 2002R .

Both models, cream and yellow based, feature a breathable mesh underlay and a mix of leather and suede for the overlays. On the cream pair, the upper half of the upper is in white tones on leather panels with matching laces and branding details, while the lower half on the heel is in earthy tones of khaki and suede brown. The typical NB logos like the " N " or the 2002R text on the heel are retained, while the AURALEE does not appear on the model. For the yellow pair, suede replaces the leather construction, all in different tones of yellow. Beige branding details on the midfoot and collar, along with similarly colored mesh, combine to create a combination of earthy hues. Underfoot, both pairs feature the 860v2 cushioning system in a combination of beige and green, while the outsole is black and yellow.
