Established in 2015, Michael Jordan 's WINGS program has provided full scholarships to more than 200 high school seniors. Jordan has long spoken openly about the impact of his teachers and education on his success on the basketball court and beyond, and the WINGS program is his way of making that impact positive.
As you would expect from Jordan 's philanthropic endeavors, special shoes have been created in the past (an Air Jordan 1 and an Air Jordan 12 were released as part of the WINGS program) and the third Jordan sneaker to benefit from a WINGS transformation is the Air Jordan 5 . The special shoes feature a cornucopia of unique graphics hand-drawn by the program's students, and a light mint green brings pops of color to the midsole, quarter panel plastic mesh and lace-up closure . For a special finishing touch, the quarter of the shoe also features a special wing-shaped graphic in place of the standard perforations.
