Referenced under the code DV4982-004, this collaboration released on August 30, 2025 officially adopts the Black / Racer Blue / Metallic Silver / White / Clear colorway. Designed to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 5, it retains the iconic lines of the 1990 model while incorporating several exclusive Awake NY elements, directly inspired by the energy and culture of New York.

The upper is constructed from premium black leather with a textured finish, highlighted by contrasting white stitching that accentuates the sneaker’s various panels. The traditional side vents of the Jordan 5 are entirely reinterpreted here: the signature Awake NY “A” logo is integrated directly into the translucent midfoot panels. This modification stands as one of the most recognizable details of the collaboration, allowing Awake NY to transform the silhouette without altering its fundamental architecture.

The Air Jordan 5 Retro Awake NY Black also plays on a sharp contrast between the black of the upper and the Racer Blue accents. The Metallic Silver reflective tongue features a co-branded Awake NY and Jumpman logo embroidered in blue. The treatment becomes asymmetrical at the heels: the left shoe retains the famous “23”, while the right replaces this number with the inscription “NY”, a direct tribute to the brand’s origins. The Nike Air branding also appears on the back, reinforcing the link to the original Air Jordan 5s.

Underfoot, the pair maintains the historical construction of the AJ5 with a visible Nike Air unit in the heel, a sculpted midsole, and the famous shark-tooth details. The translucent outsole also reveals a co-branding element, while transparent lace locks complete the lacing system.
