The Air Jordan 5 Retro Awake NY Arctic Pink revisits the iconic silhouette designed by Tinker Hatfield through the New York streetwear identity of Awake NY. Referenced under code DV4982-600, this collaboration released in August 2025 officially adopts the Arctic Pink / Metallic Silver / University Red / Black / White / Clear colorway. Pink dominates the construction, while red, black, and silver accents recall several historical codes of the Jordan 5. This edition is also part of the 35th anniversary celebrations of the Air Jordan 5, initially launched in 1990.

The upper of the Air Jordan 5 Retro Awake NY Arctic Pink is constructed primarily of Arctic Pink leather, highlighted by contrasting stitching that accentuates the silhouette's angular lines. The famous translucent side panels are reworked here with the Awake NY “A” logo integrated directly into their structure. This modification allows the collaboration to transform a fundamental element of the Jordan 5 without distorting its architecture. The Metallic Silver reflective tongue retains one of the most recognizable details of the original model.

Co-branding is another important signature of this version. A University Red Jumpman appears on the tongue above the Awake logo, while both shoes feature an asymmetrical treatment on the heel: the traditional “23” remains embroidered on one, while the inscription “NY” appears on the other as a direct reference to New York and Awake NY’s roots. The pair also came with white and red laces as well as a hangtag specific to the collaboration.

Underfoot, this Air Jordan 5 maintains a construction faithful to the model’s basketball heritage. A black midsole is punctuated by the famous red shark teeth motifs, while a visible Air unit in the heel ensures cushioning. The translucent outsole provides additional contrast with the pink upper and extends the clear aesthetic of the colorway. The whole assembly thus incorporates several elements directly associated with classic Air Jordan 5s while integrating them into a project much more oriented toward streetwear.

Thanks to its Arctic Pink, Metallic Silver, and University Red combination, this collaboration works particularly well with baggy denim, black cargos, grey trousers, or an outfit in neutral colors. Between pink leather, Awake NY branding, reflective tongue, NY/23 details, and visible Air cushioning, the Air Jordan 5 Retro Awake NY Arctic Pink provides a contemporary, New York-inspired take on one of Jordan Brand’s major silhouettes.
