The Salomon XT-Quest Expedition revisits Salomon’s technical universe through an aesthetic directly inspired by the golden age of mountaineering. Referenced under code L49177400, this version adopts the official Black/Bitter Chocolate/Concord Grape colorway. Salomon explains that they sought to recreate the look and texture of mountain gear that has already seen use, featuring a dark palette, patinated brown tones, and intentionally aged finishes. The result blends alpine inspiration, outdoor aesthetics, and a substantial construction into a silhouette designed for everyday lifestyle use.
The construction of the Salomon XT-Quest Expedition notably highlights vintage-look leather, paired with more technical elements characteristic of the Salomon universe. The various Black and Bitter Chocolate shades enhance the desired patinated effect, while touches of Concord Grape provide a deeper contrast. Rope laces complete this approach inspired by traditional mountaineering gear and accentuate the pair’s rugged character. Salomon specifically describes this version as an evocation of alpine tools marked by time and altitude.
The silhouette also stands out for its massive proportions and highly structured architecture. Salomon lists a 12 mm drop as well as a weight of 600g per shoe, underscoring a positioning that is clearly more robust than many of the brand’s Sportstyle silhouettes. These characteristics contribute to its expedition-shoe look and visually reinforce its mountain inspiration.
In terms of style, the Black/Bitter Chocolate/Concord Grape palette works particularly well with brown, khaki, black, beige, or raw denim. The pair can be paired with cargo pants, baggy jeans, a technical jacket, or a parka to enhance its outdoor aesthetic. The aged finishes also allow it to be integrated into workwear or gorpcore-inspired outfits without requiring many other graphic elements.
Available starting October 1st, 2026, the Salomon XT-Quest Expedition stands out for its SKU L49177400, its earthy palette, vintage leather, rope laces, and clear alpine inspiration. This variation offers a more massive and narrative interpretation of the Salomon universe, built around the mountains, vintage equipment, and a technical aesthetic designed for the city.
