Although it's newer to the Jordan Brand family than the design it's based on, the Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT has repeatedly demonstrated an awareness of its origins. This ultra-comfortable proposition recently surfaced in a colorway that combines the classic " Black Toe " style with a series of tones reminiscent of college athletics. At first glance, the comparison to one of the original Air Jordan 1 models is obvious: Synthetic leather in "White" covers the toe box and midfoot, while furry suede surrounds the forefoot and tongue in a slightly faded “Black” shade. A closer look at the pair reveals a touch of modernity, as the mix of materials covering the heel, collar, and tongue introduces gold, burgundy, and blue into the mix.

The trio of vibrant colors that take up most of the rear of the retro shoe evoke the old Nike Dunk drops, another Peter Moore-designed model that has drawn inspiration from dozens of college programs since its debut in 1985. Under the foot, the Zoom air-cushioned shoe opts for a tried-and-true “ White/Black ” midsole and outsole combination, but the latter is interrupted by the rich yellow tone that livens up the upper. Nonetheless, the bottom half of the shoes completes a variation of the Jordan 1 that is rooted in both heritage and futuristic design.
