The Air Jordan 6 Retro Infrared Salesman brings a long-time prototype colorway back into the spotlight. Referenced under the code CT8529-001 in adult sizes, this version adopts a Black/Light Crimson palette and draws direct inspiration from a sample that appeared in a 1999 seasonal catalog. At the time, this variation was never actually released. Jordan Brand brought it out in 2026 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 6, with the goal of staying as true as possible to the spirit of the original sample.

The upper is built on a black nubuck that retains the dark, aggressive aesthetic of the classic Jordan 6 Infrared. The major difference appears on the midsole: the Light Crimson color is much more prominent than on the OG version, creating a Reverse Infrared effect. This inverted color distribution immediately gives the model a different identity while remaining faithful to the AJ6's historic visual universe. The heel also features a highly visible Light Crimson branding.

The Air Jordan 6 Retro Infrared Salesman retains the technical fundamentals of the silhouette designed by Tinker Hatfield. It features a visible Nike Air unit in the heel, a rubber outsole, and a Dynamic Fit inner sleeve designed to support the foot. Jordan Brand also adds several details inspired by the pair's sample status, notably a specific hangtag and “Not For Resale” branding on the inside of the collar. These elements reinforce the reference to the samples once used to present collections to retailers before they went into production.

In terms of style, the combination of black and Light Crimson works particularly well with black jeans, anthracite cargo pants, or a dark sportswear set. The bright red becomes the main point of contrast, which allows the rest of the outfit to remain quite understated. The pair fits perfectly into a retro basketball look, but can also work in a contemporary streetwear register thanks to its bulky profile and highly identifiable colorway.
