Over the past 34 years, Nike Air Max technology has been used in hundreds of shoe offerings for running, basketball, and everything in between. And if the visible air cushion inspired a revolutionary design, the North American brand ensured that the Air Max 1, the shoe that started it all, remained in its offering. For its latest offering, the model appeared in a mismatched arrangement as part of the “ Evolution of Icons ” collection. As with the original Tinker Hatfield model, the upcoming pair features a “ White/University Red/Neutral Grey/Black ” color scheme.

However, instead of being a simple reissue of this inaugural style, the new Air Max references various silhouettes with game-changing technology: the gradient suede stripes and TPU upper eyelets are borrowed from the Air Max 95 and Air Max 90, respectively, while the insoles feature printed images of nine other models, a la 2006's " History of Air " collection. The shoe's disparate and eye-catching accents are accompanied by detailed shiny on the heels, the left of which features an embossed “3.26” suggesting the pair will release on Air Max Day 2021.
