In 2020, New Balance ushered in the return of the 2002. And now, two years later, the brand is giving the 1906 the same treatment, replacing the sole of the 2009 shoe with that of the 860v2. In addition to a collaborative offering with thisisneverthat, the silhouette will soon release in a number of colorways online, the first of which are planned for Asia later in August.

Made up of breathable mesh panels, synthetic panels and premium nubuck accents, the silhouette celebrates the iconic look of 2000s runners. This is further amplified by its predominantly silver makeup, which pays homage to the one of the original colorways of the 1906. The OG 2002 is also in the spotlight, with its deep grays and navy blue accents that translate well on the more complex upper. To better commemorate the release of the 1906R, New Balance teamed up with renowned stylist and fashion director Akio Hasegawa, who created a series of visuals based on the theme of " past " and " future ."
