The golden age of sneakerhead hunting was the first half of the 2000s. From the turn of the century until the end of the pink box era of SB Dunks, Nike quietly served up classics without history or theory (just color variations of our favorite shoes). It now seems that the brand is targeting this ephemeral era for a few unexpected ones in 2022 like the " Crepe " pack from 2004. Made up mainly of the Air Max 1, Air Burst and Air Max 90, the "Crepe" pack was distinguished by a toe box in hemp, brown or beige suede uppers, and a slight aqua touch on the Swoosh and Air unit.

Only the Air Max 1 had an outsole that completely replaced the original traction with a creped material (the Air Max 90 and Air Burst retained their traditional soles). The 2022 version looks pretty close to the original, although the material used for the underlay is no longer hemp but rather an updated style on the weave seen in contemporary Air Maxes. While purists may scoff every time an OG detail is changed, this modification isn't the worst as hemp wrinkling was pretty terrible back in the day.
